Two years ago I learned to ski (@ age 53). It was one of the most extraordinary adventures of my life! As with anything new (especially later in life), it took a lot of effort to reach success. But my instructor was wise and patient with me as he watched me progress (albeit, at times slowly)!
He noticed I was making some improvement, but saw also I was at a temporary impasse. So he asked me-'Are you afraid?' I said, 'Yes!' So he made a bold challenge--'Get angry at the mountain!' I wondered initially what he meant.
I have since come to understand that he meant, 'Let go of your fear and don't let it (i.e., the mountain) control you.' I followed his advice, overcame my fear was conquered the hill. You too can overcome your fears.
Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (Jn. 14:1) Is there some fear you need to let go of today? Don't let it become a mountain in your way--overcome your fears and your life will change!
